I started taking pictures when I was 13 years old, photographing my friends and trying to manifest the feeling of nostalgia visually. Moments in golden light were so, so precious to me. I studied photography in college and graduate school, earning my MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2013. I never really connected with anything the way I do with art, and when I don’t know what else to do with myself I learn a new skill. Mainly, I play guitar and synthesizer, draw comics and illustrations, record videos and animate. Working in so many mediums keeps me inspired. That’s how I always wanted to live my life and I’m content to spend my days creating.
I live with my partner, Edie, our baby, Roscoe and our two cats, Fawkes and Calvin. We are artists and musicians living a simple life. Most days we make lots of food, take walks, work on creative projects and Roscoe squeals with delight and wonder. Especially since having a baby, I try to approach every day with curiosity.
