Bryn Deerjerk Woodcarving Artist Portraits in Morgantown West Virginia by Lexington Photographer Cassie Lopez
With my recent interest in photographing amazing women, Bryn Perrott was one of the first people that I thought to contact. Her work is beautiful, as is she. Plus, it’s not every day I get to photograph someone with so many tattoos. I think my dad would refer to her as “the illustrated woman”. We are connected through West Virginia. I hope to make more portraits of inspiring West Virginians as time goes on because really, there are a ton of them/us. Bryn happens to be located in Morgantown.
It was also super fun to watch her carve, skillful and fearless. I love looking at her carvings online, but seeing them in person was really inspiring. I think many people would agree with me in being as fascinated with the process and the creator as the finished products. And since Bryn is about as reclusive as I am, you’re not likely to run into her unless you frequent tattoo conventions.
I am just a photographer. So, to give you a somewhat fuller picture, I offer you:
Bryn’s Instagram, Deerjerk and this interview on the hairpin, which I loved reading because it’s super interesting and it does pretty much sound like her voice. And of course, my photos, which are below.
